Own the compliance logic in backend systems that move over $100M in transactions. Integrate third-party providers and design the failure paths around them, so a bad response from someone else’s system never turns into a bad payment. TypeScript, SQL, and AWS serverless. Work directly with product, compliance, and external partners to keep releases moving in a regulated environment.
Hands-on CTO: wrote code, led teams, and owned architecture across concurrent client projects. Hired, mentored, and managed engineers, and set the engineering standards, review process, and delivery cadence the company still runs on. Primary technical contact for clients in the US, UK, Germany, and Australia, from scoping through delivery. Grew the engineering team without loosening the quality bar.
Led a team of engineers delivering backend and frontend features on a consumer fintech platform. Stayed hands-on in TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and React, with Python, Ruby, Java, and Keycloak across the wider stack. Mentored engineers, ran code review, and absorbed shifting product priorities without letting technical quality slip.
Built data pipelines and backend services that opened new markets for the platform. Turned regulatory requirements into concrete system behaviour alongside product and business teams. TDD-first team, large Rails codebase, frequent releases. Ruby on Rails and TypeScript.
Ran large-scale data migrations across system boundaries that kept moving underneath them. Designed event-driven pipelines connecting microservice workflows. Contributed to roadmap planning and cleared technical risk before it reached delivery. Ruby and TypeScript.
Built full-stack web applications for client teams, frequently as tech lead on the project. Ruby, TypeScript, SQL, and React. Mentored junior engineers through code review and design discussions.
